Robin Fishwick - Woodwind on "Us Kites (Instrumental)"
How I Came To Work With From The Horses's Mouth
I was asked by Dean to play woodwind on the instrumental version of Us Kites on the album One Foot In Front Of The Other.
Musical Career and Influences
Robin is a singer/songwriter mainly performing in sessions and open mic nights (with or without the mic!) in Leeds - usually in the folk tradition. Robin plays a range of woodwind including early instruments musical taste has had the good sense to forget . His own musical tastes range widely and he has sung tenor in Leeds Festival Chorus, played recorder, bombarde and ocarina with the anarchic Wazz Jazz in the early 90's, as well as Nanky Poo and other Gilbert and Sullivan roles back in his wayward youth. He has collaborated with Kwame D, Matthew McIntyre and the late Melvis Paisley, but his most enduring partnership has been with Alan Murphy on Sunday night sessions. He is the long standing ceilidh caller for the Grey Catz - formerly the Tuppeny Ceilidh.
Other Projects Involved In (Musical and Otherwise)
Robin is currently exploring the timple - the 5 string miniature guitar of Lanzarote - with the help of a group of ukelele lovers meeting at the Chemic Tavern, Leeds. He is also working on a new recording "Waiting for the Green Man" which he hopes to finish this year. His only previous CD "Sunrise on East Street" (1995) is a rare sight these days.
